We’re reinventing BGMS with new branding, this new website, new leadership and new programs. Whether you’re a new physician or new to the community, or if you’ve been a member in the past, get to know the “new” us!
Physicians are welcome to join us at Welcome Receptions from 5:45 to 6:30 pm on Wednesdays prior to our Board of Directors meetings – April 17, May 8, and July 10.
We also offer Wellness Group meetings on third Thursdays – May 16, June 20 and July 18. These will be hosted at area restaurants in the evenings.
A picnic and easy hike for physicians and their families will be Sunday, May 5 at Bidwell Park.
Volunteers are needed for sports physical screening at Chico and Durham high schools in May and June. Contact me as soon as possible to sign up! These screenings are important for the health and safety of incoming high school athletes and is one of Butte-Glenn Medical Society’s rewarding volunteer opportunities.
Also, on June 12, we will offer a Hub and Spoke Update Dinner at Butte Creek Country Club. With a grant from Aegis, the Butte-Glenn Medical Society Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force continues striving to reduce opioid prescription rates, to encourage safe disposal of unused prescriptions, to educate the public on pain management, and to foster the hub and spoke model of addiction medicine and treatment.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, we want to thank our colleagues for supporting BGMS, our physician members and community in the months following the Camp Fire:
Fresno-Madera Medical Society
Los Angeles County Medical Association
Sierra Community Medical Foundation and the Placer-Nevada County Medical Association
Sierra-Sacramento Valley Medical Society
Sonoma County Medical Association
By giving Butte-Glenn Medical Society unrestricted funds or direct gifts to families affected by the Camp Fire, we were able to continue operations. We were able to bring our community together for a membership dinner on February 6 and start planning for a sustainable future. We are grateful.
